With Armies of the British Commonwealth now available, it’s time to get into the details of Commonwealth Army Lists. We discuss army lists for:
- India – All Gurkhas built from the Ayo Gorkhali! – Gurkha Starter Army
- East Africa Command – Scout Platoon, double-Rifle Platoon, Artillery Platoon, no vehicles
- India – Brad’s “standard” Indian force he’s been running for years, now updated for Third Edition with AoBC
- South Africa – More of an exercise in theory, how many Belt Action Fire Armored Cars can you run?
Enjoy!

can the Nigerian Chindit sections take full SMGs? I might be reading it wrong but I thought it was the NCO and another man (i.e., max 2 per section)?

Oh. Oh no.
I completely misread it as “any other”. Ah! Well, I feel foolish. 🙃

sorry to be the bearer of bad news on that!
in your defense, the wording of “another” is different than most other units that say “and 1 other man”
I’d be curious how you’d adjust the list, and what composition you’d use on the 5 man infiltrating squads?
Would you consider Bren Gun sections for turn 1 ambush? Or taking the 2 SMGs you have access to and the rest rifles?

I knew there was something out of the ordinary with this unit entry. Because you are absolutely right, in all other instances, it’s “The NCO and up to x men may…” and that is what threw me off.
As for changes to the list – I’ve played five games now with three five-man Rifle Sections in the Scout Platoon and those might be the best part of the list. Those three units are Vet with Infiltrator (for two units it’s +1pt per model and the third unit is +2pts per model). Those three units getting to deploy at Infiltrators is fantastic. They are very annoying to deal with. In support I also did an AT Rifle Team and a Light Mortar in the Scout Platoon as well.
I’m not sold on the Bren Gun Sections yet. But, I also haven’t had a chance to try them (I don’t have the models).
To get the SMGs I’ll take a hard look replacing the Nigerian Chindit Sections with Commando Subsections. They are 16pts (just like the Nigerian Chindits) but have the option to all take SMGs.
Lots to consider!
