WIP Wed….Thursday – USMC

We’re gonna have WIP Wednesday posts going up weekly now. Unfortunately this one got delayed due to thunderstorms in the Chicago area knocking my power out. Gotta love Murphy’s Law.

My hobby focus continues to be on my United States Marines for Warlord Games’ Bolt Action.  As I’ve mentioned before, I’m preparing an army for Operation Sting in November, and I’m trying to make sure that I get it all done with some time to spare (I, and several others in our usual hobby group, have a horrible habit of procrastinating and then cramming in painting sessions within the week before the tournament to try and get everything done).

So far I don’t have a lot of paint on the models, I’m going to try out a guide  from Warlord Games that walks through doing the USMC camo schemes from the war. I’ll be primarily doing the green-tone pattern, although I may use the brown-tone on a few pieces of clothing (rolled up sleeves where you would be seeing the reverse side of the cloth, maybe a few pairs of pants, etc). I was looking forward to cranking out some serious painting on the test models on Wednesday night, but the lot of us got distracted by some good old barbecue and a game of Zombicide: Black Plague.

Unlike the painting front, the building side of things has gone well. The entire army is now assembled and all of the standing models are primed as well as having the initial basing done. For kneeling and prone models I want to paint first before I glue them down, since it’ll be a pain to get at the lower details when they are on the bases.

I’ve got several pictures of the army laid out as well as some closer shots of the various models. All of the infantry and the LVT-4 Buffalo are Warlord Games minis, and the Sherman is a Rubicon Models M4A3.  Also I wanted to apologize for the quality of the photos… my phone camera is still crap and I haven’t been able to get out and grab a new one yet. Soon.
