German Gebirgsjäger

I am always on the lookout for interesting Kicstarter campaigns. Heer 46 has launched a campaign for a line of Gebirgsjäger miniatures. Gebirgsjäger are something that not many miniatures companies have. As far as I know only Warlord Games and the excellent Gorgon Studios have Gebirgsjäger available. Gebirgsjäger are another one of those elite German units from… Read More German Gebirgsjäger

You can’t stop the parti

In the three weeks since my last WIP Wednesday there has been serious hobby progress on the Partiboys. Not only are 24 models finished (besides basing) but both Rubicon Opel Blitz trucks have been built (one still needs an MG gunner), 52 more Partiboys have been built and primed and the list has been refined… Read More You can’t stop the parti

Figure Mentors

I love it when I find quality content on the internet. Even more so when that content is created by fans. I have slowly been creating a list of hobby blogs that produce the highest caliber of content and one of the top contenders is Figure Mentors. Simply put, Figure Mentors is next level, top… Read More Figure Mentors

Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5

It’s back. On Nov. 22, 2012, the Kickstarter for Kingdom Death: Monster went live. Over the course of the campaign KD:M raised over 2 million dollars. At the time, it was the highest grossing board game of all time.It was not until almost a full three years later, in October of 2015, did my copy of… Read More Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5

WIP Wednesday – Enter the Partiboys

For Bolt Action Doubles at Adepticon 2017 Ben and I will be running a never-before-seen-team: The Partiboys. What exactly are the Partiboys? Well, simply put, the Partiboys are the hardest hitting, filthiest, most WAC army on the Bolt Action tournament scene. Or not. Partiboys is the affectionate name Ben and I have given our Partisan… Read More WIP Wednesday – Enter the Partiboys

White Dwarf – December 2016

I will now be posting a monthly White Dwarf review as a regular feature on Chicago Dice. I’ll highlight each of the main features from the issue along with a few photos. I’d like to keep these as a running log of the new (current) version of White Dwarf and how it fares month to month.… Read More White Dwarf – December 2016

Ikea Detolf display case extra shelves upgrade

After many years of halfheartedly displaying my miniatures on dusty bookshelves, I decided to go all in and acquire a proper display case. Once I had completed a bit of research I pulled the trigger on the Ikea Detolf, This glass-door cabinet is perfect for displaying anything and the $20 upgrade for LED lights was… Read More Ikea Detolf display case extra shelves upgrade

Operation Sting event photos

Ben and I took a ton of pictures at the event. We tried to capture both games in progress and armies on display. Without a doubt, Operation Sting had the highest level of hobby I have seen at a Bolt Action event.

Operation Sting coverage

Last weekend Ben and I attended Operation Sting. Hosted in Northbook, IL on Nov. 5-6 , this 30 player, two-day tournament is quickly becoming the premier Bolt Action event in the Midwest. Considering Ben and I played a total of ten games over the weekend we will not be doing a full write-up for each game. Instead,… Read More Operation Sting coverage

WIP Wednesday – The last Chindit

This week saw me finishing the last of the of the Bolt Action Chindits, the Medic. I now have a main 1250 pt. list with several different build options depending on the game. With Operation Sting just a few days away, I finished this army just in time. With so many other projects on the… Read More WIP Wednesday – The last Chindit

Breaking news from Warlord HQ - the next Armies of book has been confirmed! "Armies of the Allies & Axis: Third Edition" is the next book slotted for Q1 2027 following "Armies of France". First squad of Soviet Bloc infantry ready for basing! The objective was to complete the unit as quickly as possible using Contrast / Speed Paint / Xpress and I am thrilled with the results. The next three Bolt Action releases. Any guesses for Q1 2027? Armies of the Allies? China? A massive Partisan book??
