About a year ago Warlord Games released a much needed update to their aged British Commandos plastic infantry box. The new British & Inter-Allied Commandos box was the only viable option for building out a plastic Commando/SAS/SBS Platoon – until now.
Hot on the heels of the 02 Hundred Hours release, Wargames Atlantic will be putting out full plastic kits for both the German Sentries and British SAS/Commandos. Wargames Atlantic has been building quite the catalog of World War II plastics kits and, in this case, has given us the chance for a direct head-to-head comparison with Warlord Games!

Warlord Games | Wargames Atlantic |
---|---|
Includes “heavy weapons” – PIAT, Light Mortar. | More weapon variety. |
More gear options. | More head options. |
The entrenching tools and canteens are sculpted onto the bodies. Bit of an odd choice. | Fewer gear options, but it’s enough to kit out your models. |
Bodies are sculpted in battle dress. | Bodies are sculpted in jackets/smocks. |
Both kits have weapons with hands and/or arms attached. I find this to be a major boon, but I know some hobbyists are not fans of that approach. Luckily, both kits have a wide variety of positions and poses with the sculpted-on hands. The scale of each kit is just about an exact match (I know folks will ask). Both kits are not lacking in details, the Wargames Atlantic kit is a bit softer on the sculpts but that’s hardly an issue.
I am incredibly impressed with both these kits and I am unable to make a recommendation of one over the other. If you are looking to get some plastic Commandos/SAS I truly think your best bet will be to grab six of one and a half-dozen of the other!
Awesome thank you for the write up as always. And I was going to ask the size comparison haha. I have been wanting to pick up some wargames atlantic but wasnt sure about how they would match my warlord models. Seems like they would be a good addition.

The two sets scale nicely with each other, as to the Wargames Atlantic and Warlord Games plastic Italians.

Haha, I was coming to the same conclusion while browsing those sprues. “This has cooler heads, but this one has more weapons, but this one…”. If the two sets can be mixed and matched, then even better!
