Gather your forces in the dead of winter and prepare for Crossing the Rubicon an Allies v. Axis Bolt Action Team Event!
Crossing the Rubicon will be held at Old Guard Games (3132 N Downer St. in Milwaukee, WI) on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026.
Registration – To sign up for the event, Kris at kittellkris@hotmail.com. The event is capped at 24 players (12 Axis and 12 Allies). Include if you will be playing for the Allies or the Axis when registering.
Event Cost – Crossing the Rubicon costs $20. Players can send payment to Kris via Venmo @Kris-Kittell-1. The registration fee will be used to provide prizes and lunch.
Event Format
Crossing the Rubicon is not a tournament. Participants will play two games; Round 1 and Round 2. Players will play both the Mega Battle and a Doubles Game.
The Mega Battle
- A massive 6v6 mega battle between Allied and Axis Players 1-6 on a 6×24′ table.
- There will be two sets of Order Dice in the bag, one for the Allies Team and one for the Axis Team. When an Order Die is pulled, each player on that Team will activate a unit (if available).
- Players are required to bring their own Order Dice to mark their activated units.
- The Mega Battle will use First Wave. Infiltrator deployment is allowed. No Reserves allowed.
- There will be a large city in the center of the table divided into nine sections.
- Holding the City Center is worth 6 VPs.
- Holding each Suburb is worth 3 VPs.
- There will be two Towns on the flanks, each worth 6 VPs.
- Placed near the enemy table edge, the Command Posts are worth 12 VPs each and the Ammo Dumps are worth 6 VP.
- Teams can also score 1 VP for every enemy unit destroyed and 3 VP for every friendly unit that exists the off the enemy table edge.
- There will be a large city in the center of the table divided into nine sections.
- The Mega Battle will last 6 Turns with a hard 30min cap for each Turn.
The Doubles Game
- For Game 2, Allied and Axis Players 7-12 will pair off and play a 2v2 Allies v Axis Doubles Game.
- There will be three Doubles Games taking place simultaneously along with the Mega Battle.
- The Doubles Games will use First Wave. Infiltrator deployment is allowed. No Reserves allowed.
- One objective in the center of the table will be worth 12 VPs.
- Each Team will place a secondary objective on their half of the table. Capturing the enemy secondary objective is worth 12 VPs. Holding your own is worth 0 VPs.
- Teams can also score 1 VP for every enemy unit destroyed and 3 VP for every friendly unit that exists the off the enemy table edge.
At the conclusion of Round 1, the players will switch to the other Game – those who played in the Mega Battle will play a Doubles Game and those who played a Doubles Game will play the Mega Battle.
Army Building Requirements
Forces for Crossing the Rubicon are:
- 1,250pts
- 12 Order Dice max
- 4 Platoons max
- For Germany, forces must be built using Armies of Germany: Third Edition.
- For the United States, forces must be built using Armies of the United States: Third Edition.
- For Great Britain, forces must be built using Armies of Great Britain: Third Edition.
- For the Soviet Union, forces must be built using Armies of the Soviet Union: Third Edition.
- For Imperial Japan, forces must be built using the Bolt Action Third Edition Rulebook.
- For the 12 “Minor Powers”, forces must be built using the Further Axis & Allied Nations PDFs.
- The event will use the latest Bolt Action FAQ & Errata as of Jan. 1, 2026.
- Players are not required to use the same list for Round 1 and Round 2. It must be for the same Team, but you can run a completely different force or nation for the Mega Battle and the Doubles Game.
The Ban List – These rules and units are not allowed at Crossing the Rubicon:
- Units and Force Selectors from the Bolt Action Compendium are not allowed.
- Any rules, books, updates, etc., published after Dec. 31, 2025, will not be allowed.
Model Requirements
All models used at Crossing the Rubicon must:
- Be WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get).
- In other words, proxy models are not allowed.
- Have a minimum of three colors.
- Be based.
Any models that do not meet these requirements will not be allowed on the table.

Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Mega Battle.
Army Lists
Army List Submission – Players are required to submit Army Lists in advance for review. Lists are due by Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026. Submit to Kris at kittellkris@hotmail.com.
You should bring three copies of your list to the event. One copy for you and one for the enemy team.
Note on EasyArmy, 2nd in Command, and Warlord Games App – No matter what app or website you use to build your list, double-check your points against the Rulebook, Armies of, and Minor Nation PDFs.
