Notes and Analysis

The objective of this list is two-part: 1) use as many of the components from a single box of infantry as possible, and 2) make a list that works at a semi-competitive level. Please keep in mind, this list was written using only the content of a single box of infantry.

In my local club we are all just starting Bolt Action so a list with lots of options and diversity works great. The squads with the Light Mortars is used to disrupt enemy positions and force them to move. I added the Sniper Team to take down specific targets like Weapons Teams. The LMG and single Mortar squads are the more mobile units and should be used to advance into the enemy. I added in the Light Machine Gun mostly for fun and weapon diversity.

What’s Next?

Consider these additions to your 500pt 1 Box Army:

  • Double the Infantry – The plan is to get another IJA Infantry box and upgrade the squads to 14 men and also add another infantry squad with 15 men. All the NCOs will have SMGs.
  • Get some Tanks – If you add in an Armored Platoon with a Chi-Ha and a Ha-Go and you should be close to 1,000 pts.
  • AT and Artillery – Or don’t go the Armored Platoon route and make some Suicide Anti-Tank units along with some Artillery and, of course, add more rifles.
