Notes and Analysis
The objective of this list is two-part: 1) use as many of the components from a single box of infantry as possible, and 2) make a list that works at a semi-competitive level. Please keep in mind, this list was written using only the content of a single box of infantry.
Fair warning, this is not a true 1 Box, 1 Army as it will require use of appropriate tokens / miniatures for the motorcycles. With that out of the way, I was inspired to make this list after seeing a post on the Warlord Games Community on this German Veteran Infantry kits’ conversion possibilities, one of which was the Kradschützen Motorcycle Troops. They were a common sight in Panzer Divisions until 1942, when they had been largely replaced by Panzergrenadiers. As such this list is best suited for the Early War period.
This list uses 29 of the 30 bodies in the box for a 6 Order Dice, 499pt force. The Kradschützen, including the Platoon Commander, are intended to fly up the table and harass the enemy with hit and run attacks, while the rest of your army catch up and provide covering fire. Remember, those motorcycles can Advance 12″ and Run 24″ with as many turns as you’d like. All of your motorcycle infantry are Veteran, giving them some survivability, but they will collapse under sustained fire.
What’s Next?
Consider these additions to your 500pt 1 Box Army:
- Add an Anti-tank Gun: While the AT Rifle will be effective against most Early War vehicles, a bigger gun will be much better. How about a Pak-36 to keep that Early War vibe?
- Add a Forward Observer: The one leftover body could be put to good use as a Forward Air Observer calling in Stukas in true Blitzkrieg style!
- Add Tanks: Speaking of Blitzkrieg style, a bunch of tanks would really help seal the deal. You can get a Regular Panzer II and Panzer 38t for only 240pts, which will transform this list into a proper Blitzkrieg force.
